Description 

Minca is a small village inhabited by 800 people at an elevation of 650m in the Sierra Nevada region. It is famous for its organic coffee and has a much cooler temperature than the sweltering Santa Marta. The village is charming, and has, in the past few years, grown as a bird-watching destination. It also attracts nature-loving travelers who want a week or two off from the beaten track and indulge into tranquility. It’s a great base for hiking, mountain-biking and other outdoor activities, offering fresh mountain breeze, over 300 bird species nearby to watch and spectacular views. The region is also characterized by many farms producing cocoa of excellent quality, in addition to beautiful ecological trails, rivers and waterfalls of crystal clear water, indigenous settlements and much more.

For this full day tour, you will meet your driver at 8:45 am in your hotel lobby of Santa Marta. From there, you will enjoy a 50-minute drive through the overwhelming vegetation of the Sierra Nevada region all the way to Minca. As soon as you arrive in Minca, you will be welcomed by our professional tour guide who will give you a brief introduction on the town and its surroundings. You’ll enjoy a one-hour ecological hike, passing by residential areas, rivers, restaurants until finally arriving to the local coffee farm. Get to know the coffee process, be in contact with a coffee plant in its natural environment and taste delicious organic coffee.

After the coffee experience, you’ll enjoy another ecological hike of approximately 40 minutes to a natural waterfall and freshwater pool where you will have the opportunity to swim and enjoy nature for approximately 1 hour.

At last, another 40-minute hike to the local restaurant, where your delicious lunch will be taken, and you’ll be able to enjoy a deserved rest. After lunch you will enjoy a tasting of local cocoa chocolate produced in the Sierra Nevada region and your private driver will take you back to your hotel.
